The National Design Centre (NDC) is an integrated design centre located in the heart of the city. Established in 2013, the NDC is an initiative of Singapore’s national design master plan to cultivate design innovation and support the growing creative culture through an eco-systematic approach. Housed in the NDC are the DesignSingapore Council, secretariat offices of design associations, the Design Thinking & Innovation Academy, the Asian Insights & Design Innovation Lab, and a Design Advisory Centre. To support design creation, there are labs such as a technology and media lab, and a materials library. To facilitate production, there are offices, workshop spaces, and prototyping facilities for creators and design companies to use. Regular training programmes, talks and conferences are also organised at the NDC for design capabilities development. Exhibition and retail spaces showcase and retail design goods and services. The National Design Centre’s programmes and activities are open to the public, as well as the creative community.

The Red Dot Design Museum is one of Asia’s largest design museums. Since 2005, it has organised the Red Dot Design Concept Award for young creators and companies to recognise design innovation. The Singapore Gallery by the Urban Redevelopment Authority is an interactive public exhibition that tells the story of Singapore’s physical transformation. The Japan Creative Centre, established by the Japanese Government as a result of Japan-Singapore summit meetings, is the first of its kind in the world to promote Japanese culture, technology and creativity. It organises exhibitions, talks and inter-disciplinary creative events for the public.
