International Design Awards Scheme (IDEAS)

Yes. The scheme is not limited to design practitioners. Individuals and organisations from all backgrounds may apply, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

Yes. Such organisations may apply if they are incorporated in Singapore at the point of application and meet all other eligibility criteria.

Yes. Singapore Citizens may apply regardless of where they are based, provided they meet all eligibility criteria.

Yes, you may apply if you are appropriately associated with the award-winning project, or are authorised to apply on behalf of the project team or organisation. Where necessary, Dsg may request supporting information or clarifications to verify your relationship with the award-winning project.

For a project to be considered “designed in Singapore”, the design development activities must have been undertaken either partially or fully in Singapore.

Only awards and competition platforms on the IDEAS whitelist are eligible for support. However, Dsg may review and update the whitelist periodically during the pilot period. If you wish to suggest an award platform for consideration, please write to [email protected] with the relevant details.

Yes. A project conferred a whitelisted international design award on or after 1 January 2025 may qualify, provided all other eligibility criteria are met.

Yes. Selected student-focused international design awards and competitions are included on the whitelist. Some student-focused awards may not qualify for financial support, owing to their subsidised or free-to-enter nature, but eligible recipients may still receive publicity support.

You should provide official proof of the award win where it is available. Where the official documentation is pending, Dsg may request additional information or clarification before assessing the application.

No. You may submit any number of applications during the application period, provided that each relates to a separate whitelisted award platform and meets all eligibility criteria.

Yes. You may submit separate applications for different awards won by the same project, provided that each application relates to a separate whitelisted award platform and meets all eligibility criteria.

No. Financial support is subjected to available funding and applicants meeting all eligibility criteria. As IDEAS is a pilot initiative, funding may be discontinued upon its conclusion.

Financial support is disbursed as a one-time reimbursement. To receive it, successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions, provide valid bank account details, and submit any documents required for payment processing (where applicable).

For team projects, the application should be submitted by an authorised representative of the team or organisation. Any approved financial support is disbursed to the named applicant or organisation stated in the application. Dsg will not apportion financial support among individual team members. Applicants should ensure agreement among all relevant parties before submitting the application.

Recipients may be featured through Dsg’s communication channels, including website features, social media posts, publications, storytelling initiatives, and related media opportunities. The type and extent of publicity support may vary depending on the project and the award won.

Recipients are expected to support the visibility and promotion of their award-winning project. This may include showcasing/sharing the project at initiatives, events, or platforms organised by Dsg and/or its affiliates, providing supporting materials such as images and write-ups on request, and taking part in selected publicity opportunities. By accepting support, recipients also agree that Dsg may use and publish the submitted materials for promotional purposes across its platforms, without additional fees.

Yes. Applicants must ensure that they hold the necessary rights, permissions and intellectual property clearances for all materials submitted.
