Night owls unite! Don’t miss the inaugural SDW Friday Late, as the local and international creative community convene at Bras Basah.Bugis (BBB) for an extraordinary celebration of design inspired by the festival theme, ‘Better by Design’.
Immerse yourself in the creative pulse of BBB, featuring design installations, live demos, pop-up retail, and food stalls!
The headline events are our three specially commissioned showcases which explore these critically important themes: Innovation, Sustainability, and Inclusivity.
Playground of Possibilities by BLACK
Held at the National Design Centre (NDC) this exhibition showcases 12 design stories of possibilities from Singapore that tackle some of today’s most pressing challenges with innovative solutions and inspiring provocations.
Friday Late Exclusive:
NDC will feature a curation of retail & F&B stalls with the theme of ‘innovation’ to match the exhibition.
In collaboration with Inner Child Creations, the innovative Playground of Possibilities (POP) Print Shop will feature live 3D printing of supermarket trolley tokens, based on the colours of the Playground of Possibilities. Stickers will be provided for further customisation.
For food, Asia’s first plant-based butcher, Love Handle, will be coming in with burgers, light bites, and a specially created beverage with Oatside milk.
FI&LD by Lekker Architects
At LASALLE College of the Arts, FI&LD offers a new philosophy of inclusive design based on play and improvisation. The show emphasises possible connections between inclusion, emotion, and technology through design. Discover interactive experiences and celebrate the full range of creativity for a diversity of human bodies and minds.
Friday Late Exclusive:
Join the FI&LD Sports Day! The only goal is to have fun. Sports-themed snacks offered by Lowercase will be available so participants and spectators alike can refuel with some field-side feasting.
School of Tomorrow by Kinetic Singapore
Spanning all three levels of Selegie Arts Centre, this school-themed exhibition takes its mission of imparting sustainability in a fun, immersive way seriously. Through classes covering subjects such as geography, chemistry, social studies, and more, critical environmental issues will be introduced.
Friday Late Exclusive:
It’s never too late to go back to school! Join guided tours led by a “teacher” through the classes of the School of Tomorrow. And if the night gets too hot, cool down with plant-based ice cream from Kind Kones at the backyard of the school compound. Ice cream will not be for sale but it’s free for guided tour participants, early birds, or when you share your experience on social media with the three hashtags listed below. (Update: Slots for guided tours are now full.)
Did someone say freebies?
Don’t miss the special early-bird freebies from the food and retail stalls. These will be available on the hour, every hour, at each of the three headlining exhibitions. Or simply post on social media about your SDW 2023 experience (at any time during Friday Late) with these hashtags:
