Marking its 9th edition, the Singapore River Festival returns in 2025 with a vibrant Design Edition, held in conjunction with Singapore Design Week.

This Design Edition honours Singapore’s 60th birthday with design-focused experiences such as Symphony of Lights by Light Collab, Singapore River Passport by Studio Grain and Singapura Otter, Singapore River Odyssey by The Urbanist Singapore, and Illuminating the Past, Heritage Reimagined by Fujifilm and photographer Joseph Goh. These experiences blend design, creativity, and storytelling to showcase the enduring spirit of the Singapore River — a timeless connector of communities.

Festival highlights along the three quays include:

• Boat Quay: River of Dreams, an immersive, experiential projection mapping show
• Clarke Quay: A fun-filled pet-friendly event and an engaging community walk
• Robertson Quay: Artisanal and sustainable market, workshops, and open-air silent movie night

This year, selected events will be powered by GoRental clean energy, underscoring the festival’s commitment to a sustainable and inclusive future. Join us to celebrate design, heritage, and community spirit along the Singapore River—where the past meets the future, and creativity flows.

Symphony of Lights

Symphony of Lights is a stunning visual spectacle that transforms Cavenagh Bridge, Read Bridge, and Robertson Bridge with vibrant and bespoke lightscapes —celebrating the stories and spirit of the Singapore River.

On this boat tour, trace Singapore’s extraordinary evolution in just 60 minutes. Glide from heritage godowns at Robertson Quay to gleaming towers at Boat Quay, as heritage educator Yong uncovers hidden rooflines, climate-smart canopies and architectural icons that turned a working river into the city’s cultural runway. History, urban design and skyline views – all in one unforgettable ride.

Illuminating the Past, Heritage Reimagined

Discover the Singapore River like never before through the lens of architecture. This guided photo walk takes you on a visual journey from heritage bridges to modern structures, revealing how light, form, and materiality have shaped the river’s transformation. Along the way, capture dynamic design moments—both historic and contemporary—set against a backdrop of illuminated cityscapes.

Upcycle Lab: Design Thinking for a Sustainable Future
Totes Fun Club! Workshop

Location: The Residence, Intercontinental Robertson Quay
Date: 20 Sep to 21 Sep 2025
Time: 2.00pm to 3.30pm
Fee: $38 per pax
Capacity: 15 pax

In this hands-on workshop, participants will get to design their own fun and functional bag using simple sewing and Sashiko techniques. They will learn how to give scrap fabrics a new purpose by turning them into playful textile collages, complete with handy pockets for cards and little knick-knacks. By the end of the session, each participant will take home a one-of-a-kind upcycled bag they can proudly call their own.
