Details

Kicking off the Good Design Research showcase is Reuse Lab by multidisciplinary design studio Forest & Whale.

Spurred by the environmental damage caused by disposable food packaging and Singapore’s “dabao” culture, the studio interviewed local hawkers and created sustainable, reusable and user-friendly takeaway alternatives.

Discover the prototypes for their KopiCup (inspired by the iconic kopitiam milk tin), learn more about their Borrow and Return reusable food container, and what a Hybrid takeaway container comprising a compostable paper liner and a reusable container might look like. In addition, you can catch videos and podcasts of interviews with food critic KF Seetoh, design and sustainability experts, and local hawkers.

More details for Reuse Lab can be found here.

About Good Design Research

Launched in March 2020 in the middle of a pandemic year, Good Design Research (GDR) underscores the importance of how design backed by deep research can make a true difference by building deep domain knowledge and solving the challenges faced by societies and cities. This initiative empowers designers and design enterprises in Singapore to find their unique value proposition in designing for impact through research and experimentation, supported by a wide network of knowledge partners.
