Details
The Dense and Green Cities Future Cities Lab Global (FCL G) and the Architecture Intelligence Research Lab (AIRLAB) @SUTD showcase the architecture of urban agriculture for building sustainable cities through the exhibition at the National Design Centre, centered around the theme of architecture, agriculture, design and sustainability, curated by Prof. Carlos Banon. Titled Circular Futures: Next Gen., the exhibition demonstrates how Digital Design and Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) is a powerful enabler of a Circular Economy. It features a series of unique, sustainably built 3D-printed urban farming prototypes by AIRLAB led by Professor Carlos Bañón.
In partnership with NDC, NTU IdeasFest Food Event 2023 presents a specially curated sharing session by Professor Carlos Bañón titled ‘Circularity and 3D-printing for Addressing Urban Agriculture for Sustainable Future Cities ‘. Get to know more about physical prototypes made from more than 150kg of 3D-printed upcycled plastic. Through the use of 3D printing and recycled materials, such as PET plastic made from single-use bottles, Prof Carlos and his team at AIRLAB demonstrate the potential for designers to transform waste materials into useful and beautiful designs. The prototypes on display at the exhibition at NDC include floating and vertical farms that offer potential solutions to food security challenges, as well as decorative walls and furniture made from waste materials.
The sharing session will be followed by a guided tour of the exhibition at NDC. Join Prof. Bañón and the team from AIRLAB as they take you on the journey of Circularity through the world of 3D printing!
Supported by the DesignSingapore Council and the National Design Centre.
This talk is part of the Circular Futures: Next Gen exhibition at the National Design Centre, Level 1 Atrium, running till 9 April 2023. Find out more about the exhibition here.
