How did Singapore’s creative industry come alive in a time before Photoshop or YouTube?
Experience the rebirth of the local arts and design scene from the 90s with Class Acts – a time capsule and tribute to the pioneers who pushed—and are still pushing—Singapore’s creative standards.
From PHUNK and Theseus Chan to X’Ho and Slac Satu, discover stories of creative courage and get inspiration for your own. Explore vintage artefacts and archival footage of exciting times and shared experiences at Zouk and the Substation – iconic spaces in the narrative of Singapore’s creative dawn.
This isn’t just a walk down memory lane. It’s a display of the fire and spirit that never stopped burning in some of Singapore’s greatest musicians, designers, and street artists.
Presented by Stacking Stones. Supported by the DesignSingapore Council and the National Design Centre.
This exhibition is accompanied by the Class Acts film screening and panel talk, at the National Design Centre, Auditorium, Level 2, on 14 January 2023. Find out more about the film screening here.

Stacking Stones
Stacking Stones was started by two friends, Deon and Hwee En during one of their late night conversations at Hong Lim Park.
With different experiences under their belts, they came together with the shared belief that the local creative community can grow into a more inclusive environment through various projects that allow the exchange of knowledge from overlooked avenues and people.
