The Good Design Research showcase continues with the Sandwiched Variable Eggcrate Structure (SVES), a new Mass Engineered Timber (MET) building component conceptualized by Pan Yi Cheng of PRODUCE. Driven by the desire to advance current construction methods using renewable sources, the SVES endeavours to further reduce material used, shorten production lead time, and minimise manhours on-site. The new system will override the outdated Take-Make-Consume-Dispose consumption strategy to create a more efficient, greener, and safer building system. Drop by the showcase to discover the SVES manufacturing process and have a look at prototypes!
