Overseas Promotion Partnership Programme (OPPP)
The Overseas Promotion Partnership Programme (OPPP) aims to enhance the international recognition of Singapore's design capabilities and competitiveness, consolidating Singapore’s position as a global design city. It does this by funding participation in prestigious international design platforms so that emergent Singapore-based designers and design companies can market themselves and gain access to wider business opportunities in the global arena. It is suitable for designers and design companies that have been admitted into a prestigious international design platform.

Who is eligible?
Designers who meet the following criteria:
- Be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident
- Be an emerging designer with good track record based on:
- Background and activities
- Design credentials (eg. past awards, exhibitions, shows and publications)
- Press coverage of the applicant and/or the applicant’s works. Coverage may be local or international, online or in print (eg. newspapers and publications).
- Recommendations by two referees. Referees must be in a position to judge the applicant’s professional/design capabilities, work quality and potential for international expansion. - Preferably be designing from Singapore at the time of application
- Is currently applying or has been accepted into a prestigious international design platform
Design companies that meet the following criteria:
- Be incorporated in Singapore
- Have at least one designer who is a Singapore citizen or permanent resident
- Be an emerging company with good track record based on:
- Background and activities
- Design credentials (eg. past awards, exhibitions, shows and publications)
- Press coverage of the applicant and/or the applicant’s works. Coverage may be local or international, online or in print (eg. newspapers and publications).
- Recommendations by two referees. Referees must be in a position to judge the applicant’s professional/design capabilities, work quality and potential for international expansion.
- Financial position - Preferably be designing from Singapore at the time of application
- Is currently applying or has been accepted into a prestigious international design platform

What is a design platform?
The design platform should:
- Improve public awareness of good design and its benefits in Singapore. Target audience include industry partners, customers, media and the general public.
- Improve Singapore’s international standing in terms of:
- Singapore’s design capability
- Singapore’s design competitiveness
- Singapore’s international branding
- DesignSingapore Council’s reputation and mission
- Be prestigious and international, based on the following criteria:
- Scale, importance and admission criteria of the design platform
- Number and international-standing of participants of the design platform
- Number, types and importance of visitors at the design platform
It should bring about significant benefits to the designer/company in terms of the following:
- Opportunity to showcase and market new works/products
- International exposure, market expansion, sales growth, and other business outcomes (eg. new leads, contracts and/or IP generation)
- Global brand positioning

50% of the following participation costs, capped at S$25,000:
- Cost of exhibition booth and/or venue rental
- Cost of exhibition and/or show setup and construction
- Cost of exhibition and/or show production
- Cost of prototyping/production of new works/content
- Cost of IP registration
- Cost of photography/videography for marketing/collaterals purposes
- Cost of production of marketing collaterals
- Engagement of marketing and/or PR agency
- Cost of freight
- Cost of economy-class return air ticket (for supported designer and one design management personnel)
- Cost of overseas airport transfers (for supported designer and one design management personnel)
- Cost of overseas accommodation (for supported designer and one design management personnel)

What are the conditions?
Before and throughout participation:
- Declare other sources of public funding/private sponsorship for the participation
- OPPP grant may be reduced where these additional funding covers OPPP-covered costs
- Fully participate in the design platform
- Participate until completion of the design platform
- In all marketing/promotional collaterals for the design platform, acknowledge DesignSingapore Council as a supporting partner in the participation
- Obtain DesignSingapore Council’s written approval prior to using its logo and typeface
- Provide DesignSingapore Council with images from the design platform, and grant DesignSingapore Council the rights to use the images
After participation:
- Submission of all necessary paperwork
- Participate in a DesignSingapore Council-supported mentorship programme at a later time to be determined by the Council (to groom young local designers)

What is the application process?
Applications and supporting documents must be submitted prior to the commencement of training programme according to the application period below:

*If the event takes place from 30 Nov 2012 to 1 Dec 2012, the DesignSingapore Council must receive your application by 15 Aug 2012.
